This was another novella from the D.I Helen Grace series.
Helen is a new recruit, a traffic cop, when she comes across a RTA that is suspicious. The man has no shoes or socks on and has dog bites on his legs. Where has he come from? Is he in the country illegally? If so how did he get here and where was he escaping from?
Helen is tenacious and wants to get to the bottom of this case and lay this man to rest, even if it upsets her boss.
This shows Helen's early years in her job. You get a good understanding of how she quickly climbed the ladder and how she impressed those around her.
